2010 Baxter 'Signal Ridge Vineyard' Dry Rosé, Mendocino Ridge

The Signal Ridge Vineyard sits at high elevation close to the Coast in the cool-climate Mendocino Ridge appellation. This is a very unique appellation consisting of the coastal ridg-top areas above 1200ft. Due to it's location above the fog-line, the appellation has gained the nick-name 'Islands in the Clouds'. The ridge top vineyards appear like islands peeking out from the maritime fog. Because of this, they are bathed in long days of sunshine, providing ample temperatures to ripen the grapes steadily, even with their proximity to the Ocean. 

This super-dry rose has a champagne-like acid structure and is built for food. Full of crisp minerality, steely note and juicy green apple, it displays flavors of watermelon and quince along with a hint of kumquat zest. The alcohol is on the lower side (12.5%), providing a refreshing rose. It is the perfect accompaniment for seafood or for a salad course, particularly a home-made Caesar Salad.
