Pinot Noir, Ingrid’s Vineyard - 2009

Our tiny (3 ½ acres) Ingrid’s Vineyard Pinot Noir, planted at the entrance to Bernardus Lodge in Carmel Valley, is typical of the newest trend in terms of climate and location of the highest quality Pinot Noir vineyards in California. Only ten miles from the ocean, our vineyard enjoys sunny weather with cool ocean breezes throughout the summer and fall seasons. This produces a Pinot of great intensity and well-defined fruit expression.

With cool weather throughout the summer, our Pinot Noir season was brought to an excellent conclusion with beautiful, warm weather in September.

In 1999 we planted Ingrid’s with three of our favorite clones: 667, 777 and Pommard, which are providing us with ever deeper, richer wines as the vineyard reaches full maturity.

Our 2009 Ingrid’s is truly phenomenal. It displays an exceptionally deep ruby color and classic cool climate Pinot aromas of spice, plum and black cherry, which are beautifully accented by notes of toasty French oak. The flavors are exceptionally intense and full with juicy, candied red fruit flavors and notes of spice and sweet oak which linger on a long and firm finish. This wine will age beautifully for many years to come.
