PE653RC

Great system for the price!!

I have had the PE653RC installed for about 2 years now and continue to be very impressed with this system. I stated with a 1 speed pump, later added a Pentair Variable Speed pump and then a spa air blower. The 653 expanded to meet my needs at every stage. I also bought a second controller and it was added easily.

Intermatic just released version 3.2 firmware for this system which resolved pretty much all the issues I have had with it in the past, such as better temperature settings and ability to control variable speed pumps from the main box. Nice to see Intermatic continuing to support their customers.

Only wish item now is solar heat control. But I understand that too is coming in firmware version 3.3 sometime late 2013.

Overall, I am very pleased with this system.

Pool Control in Florida

I installed the Intermatic pool controller in November 2011. My purpose was to allow remote pool operation and pool heat pump for a rental house. I have it integrated wth a mycasaverde Vera2 controller, which is used for other house control elements.

My results are mixed. I had difficulty pairing the controller until I read on a web page to pair the controller first and then pair the handheld controller. That did work. Then I found the z-wave controls were somewhat limited in that I am unable to adjust the remote temperature for the pool. Regardless of what I place in the advanced section the handheld controller value wins. This is a major miss as being able to adjust the temperature is paramount in control needs. I also connected the heat pump power feed to control circuit 2, in addition to using the remote heat pump control circuit. This way I can turn off the pump entirely or allow the pump to be controlled by the 653. That would be great if I could adjust the temperature remotely. Other misses include the inability to see the ambient temperature through Zwave at all. I have heard more difficuulties with other software levels and have tried to remain constant in that regard. Clearly more communication with zwave controllers is required to make this system work as intended. It would be 5 stars if they get that fixed.
