¹ In cell culture studies using RAW
264.7 macrophage cells, the gene encoding the phase II
detoxification enzyme UDP-glucuronosyltransferase1A1 (UGT1A1) was
induced with the combination of actives delivered by Avmacol®. In
vivo studies demonstrate the gene encoding UGT1A1 was induced with
the combination of actives delivered by Avmacol in Sprague Dawley
² Egner, et al. (2014) reported drinking broccoli sprout-derived
beverages providing glucoraphanin and sulforaphane increased
urinary excretion of benzene metabolites. Walters, et al. (2004)
reported consumption of broccoli and Brussels sprouts increased
urinary excretion of PhIP metabolites.
³ Volunteer participants were given a single Avmacol tablet in the
morning followed by 24 hour urine collections allowing for
quantification of sulforaphane production.
