We've searched high and low for a door chain lock with an alarm. Finally, here it is. The Chain Lock with Alarm prevents the door from opening (as any chain guard does), plus it sounds an alarm to alert the caregiver of an unauthorized attempt to open the door.
Place the Chain Lock with Alarm exceptionally high or low on the door, outside of the immediate field of vision. For added security you can cover it with a washcloth to hide it. Once engaged a tug on the chain will trigger the alarm, while simultaneously preventing the door from opening – allowing the caregiver to respond before the person can get out of the door and disappear.
WARNING: It is not recommended that anyone rely solely on any one device or strategy to prevent a person from leaving the safety of their home. Any device can fail or be outsmarted. Use redundant or multiple precautions. What we like best about this product: It allows the door to open just enough to sound the alarm, but not enough to let the person get out.
| Useful for people in the middle and later stages of the disease. |
