2007 Tocai Friulano
The Tocai vines were planted in 1893 and sit in the heart of the Larkmead estate. A native of North-East Italy, the vines naturally produce an aperitif style, yet the wine possesses the weight and complexity to be a great summer food accompaniment.
Winemaker Notes
Our second release from this unique patch of ancient Tocai vines situated in the heart of our gravelly, rocky Cabernet block. This wine is not only a firm staff favorite but a wine that combines the refreshing drinkability of an aperitif with the requisite richness and subtlety to accompany most summer appetizers.
Light green/gold color. Immediate aromatic richness with ripe pear, wild flower and citrus blossom notes with the variety’s telltale fennel/anise edge. Fresh lime and green apple intensity on the entry that opens and evolves to show great almond textural creaminess balanced by brisk, racy acidity and a subtle floral herbaceousness that is characteristic of this classic North East Italian variety. Serve at no cooler than 50 degrees to allow the wine’s full character to emerge."
