Sales & Operations Planning:
A Visual Introduction
by Tom Wallace
Tom Wallace has taught Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) to thousands of executives and managers. Now Tom's deep knowledge of S&OP and his effective teaching style is captured in this video CD.Presented in three sessions, this CD gives viewers an excellent overview of Sales & Operations Planning in a seminar setting. The three sessions are:
Overview – What S&OP is, where it fits, benefits from S&OP, the role of top management in the S&OP process. (Running time: 22 min.) Internal Logic and Structure – Balancing demand and supply, volume versus mix, disjointed views of demand and supply, displaying S&OP information for effective decisionmaking. (Running time: 23 min.) The Monthly S&OP Cycle, Implementation – Sales forecasting, capacity planning, the Pre-SOP Meeting, the Executive S&OP Meeting, implementation issues. (Running time: 27 min.)Internal Education and TrainingA significant benefit of program is that this CD also contains the complete set of the Power Point slides used by Tom. These can be used by your company for internal education and training. Uses for this CD include:
- For Initial Input to Top Management. Frequently members of the Executive Team have had little or no exposure to S&OP. Session I of this video (normally using an LCD projector) can provide an excellent introduction to this topic in less than half an hour. Then, if the viewers have interest in learning more about S&OP, they can go on to Sessions II and III.
- To Help Educate Members of the S&OP Implementation Team. The material on this CD can complement live education sessions and readings. This can take place by watching the sessions on the CD or, alternatively, by using the Power Point slides themselves as part of a live presentation.
- For Individual Learning. Put the CD into your computer and start watching. If you have a laptop with a good battery life, you can easily view all three sessions on a two-hour plane ride.
Discussing what has just been viewed can add substantial value to the learning experience. Questions are offered as potential topics for discussion, and you may want to develop others.
