Our Signature Series wines are extraordinary,
highly rated wines available in limited quantity. This smooth, dry 2003 Dornfelder has been aged in new oak barriques for at least 30 months. You’ll enjoy robust plum flavor displayed in perfect harmony with fine tannins. Well suited to spicy, heavy foods or better as stand alone. This wine shows the beauty of the King Frosch series and even if we can not get the 2003 (sold out in Germany)at all anymore and the 2004 for another year we are continuing offering this great red for the introductory price to our loyal customers. This is a 'must-have' big red wine. Perfect for now and collectors.
This wine needs aerating and being open for at least 30 minutes, more is better (Check what's best in your climate zone). I know it's hard, especially if in today's world most bottles do not survive the first 30 minutes...
Aerating is pouring a wine from the bottle into another container to "let it breathe." (A big glass, etc. is OK to). Splashing the wine from the bottle mixes it with air, making it taste more "open" and "forward," its flavors more accessible. - For a test we had the bottle open for two weeks and corked it only without pumping air out or putting argon gas on top of it, our barrique Dornfelder was tasting smooth and fine, not as bold as in the first few days, but this a sign of a superb quality!
