1998 was a vintage of unique quality. A cool summer with moderate temperatures allowed the fruit to reach optimal maturity with extended hang time for the full development of character and flavors. The wine is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and 8% Merlot. This fruit from mature vines on the Burgess Estate mountainside vineyard produced a complex wine with layers of character and extended finish. There are spicy and fruity qualities that combine with the French oak, creating an aroma and flavor that will last and continue to develop.
