The 2004 Cemetery (named after a vineyard next to St. Helena’s
graveyard) is a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and equal parts Merlot,
Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. Terrific fruit concentration and a
gorgeously explosive nose of white flowers, creme de cassis, graphite,
and spicy, toasty oak are followed by a wine of enormous concentration,
full-bodied unctuosity, and a spectacularly long, 45-second, “drop
dead” finish. This brilliant effort should drink well for 15 or more
years.
