2007 St Innocent Pinot Noir Shea
93pts(WA)By a very thin hair, my personal favorite in this impressive lineup is
the 2007 Winemaker’s Cuvee, a selection of the finest barrels in the
cellar. Deep crimson-colored, it has a fragrant, alluring nose of
smoke, spice box, incense, floral notes, and red fruits. Dense, sweet,
layered, and complex, this rich effort will evolve for several years
and drink well through 2022 making it one of the potentially
longest-lived Pinot Noirs of the vintage.
Mark Vlossak,
ensconced in his new winery, seems to be taking St. Innocent to new
heights even in the challenging 2007 vintage. Do not overlook the
excellent values, particularly the white wines, that are produced here
and which were recommended in the Value Report.. Jay Miller Wine Advocate # 185 Oct 2009
The 2007 Pinot noir, Winemaker's Cuvée has an alluring nose of wild
flowers, dark cherries, black raspberries, morels and a chocolate
shake. In the mouth it bursts with layers of sweet berries, pie spices,
white pepper, and apple pie crust. Full with sweet tannins framing lush
fruit and an underlying sweet acidity, it leaves your mouth watering
for another taste. Its long finish continues with berry fruits, cedar
box, and ground spices.
Match with your favorite
comfort foods, from meat loaf to your favorite winter stew.
Exceptionally well balanced, this wine can be enjoyed in its youth or
aged for up to eight years.
