2005 Alcina Pinot Noir Ramondo Vyd Sonoma Coast
"Lots of ripe, vivid, juicy black cherry and raspberry fruit is evident in the aroma and on the palate. Intense, yet elegant and delicate, finishing with a caressing aftertaste. Drink now through 2010. 134 cases made." –JL Apr 30, 2007
From a vineyard in Sebastopol, just below the Russian Rivery Valley AVA comes this cool Pinot Noir. Given the location of the vineyard the wine straddles the line between warmer RRV and colder Sonoma Coast fruit profile.
A great follow up to its 2005 sibling, the nose shows plenty of red fruit, pomegranate and subtle grapefruit peel.
The palate then kicks in with red cherry, wild strawberry, red currant and Asian five spice on a plush mid palate leading to a long, smooth finish defined by some spice and balanced by ripe, plush tannins.
Unfined and unfiltered. 336 cases produced. This is a California wine.
