2006 Diamond Oaks Pinot Noir Carneros
A limited berry set and smaller berries intensified this Pinot Noir’s flavor profile: bright cherry, strawberry, caramelized sugars, anise & vanilla.
Dinesh Maniar, a long-time San Franciscan who slowly accumulated some of the best vineyards in the area, owns the winery. The Diamond Oaks vineyards total 550 acres in four wine growing regions:
Alexander Valley Ranch, Alexander Valley (Cabernet)
Calistoga Ranch, Napa (Cabernet, Merlot)
Diamond Oaks Winery Vineyard, Oakville (Cabernet)
Mina Ranch, Chalk Hill, Russian River Valley (Chardonnay)
Hira Ranch, Carneros (Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot)
The Carneros Vineyard is located where the Mayacamas Mountains gently descend downward towards the San Pablo Bay, which affords a longer “hang time” concentrating both flavor and color.
Winemaker, Mark Fasi: Prior to joining the Diamond Oaks team Mark made wine for Sunstone in the Santa Ynez Valley, Bettinelli Vineyards, Robert Biale Vineyards and Robert Sinsky. This Pinot was awarded Gold/2008 San Diego Wine Competition; Silver/2007 SF Chronicle Wine Competition
