This first offering from 2001 marks the beginning of a set of wines from the best vintage in California since 1997. Perfect weather all the way through veraison led to a generous crop with even ripening and just enough fruit to survive a hot August. Cooling after the first week in September allowed for a large, leisurely picking window.
The 2001 Giana Zinfandel is full, dark and concentrated with flavors of honeysuckle, raspberries cola and mint. It is punctuated with rich and elegant aromas of baking spice and black fruits finishing long on the palate.
