A bit more polished and not as rough around the edges as its predecessor, ALPHA contains such standouts as the anthemic "Don't Cry," and the melodic rockers "The Heat Goes On," "The Smile Has Left Your Eyes," and "Open Your Eyes." ALPHA would prove to be the last album to feature Asia's original line-up, as guitarist Steve Howe was replaced by Mandy Meyer for its third release, ASTRA, in 1985.
