Consists mainly of works by the great 16th-century Transylvanian lutenist and composer, Valentin Bakfark, interspersed with Polish dances by his Prussian contemporary, Matthaus Waissel. Full of variety, contrasting moods and breathtaking virtuosity, this CD shows that lute music has the power to move a modern audience as much as it could a renaissance one.
