Tanzanian Peaberry -- Dirt Cowboy Cafe Shopping Cart
$10.70
-- Bright acidity, winey with a wild earthy full flavor profile.
Peaberries are found on all coffee trees in all regions and usually account for about 3% of a tree's production. Instead of splitting in two halves as normally, some beans remain whole and round, hence the name "peaberries."
Though many coffee producers simply leave the peaberries mixed in with the other beans (if you look in any bag of coffee you will usually find a few peaberries), Tanzanian coffee producers established a specialty market for peaberries that are "screened" out from the rest. Though there is no consensus as to the overall quality difference between a peaberry and a normal bean, everyone seems to agree that there are distinct taste differences between the two. And some find that peaberries have a brighter, more intense flavor.
