2005 Le Thief
Le Thief is the other new blend for 2005. The idea was to showcase, in a blend, how the dominant variety, Syrah, could be enhanced by the addition of small amounts of Grenache and Mourvèdre. We began with a stellar selection of fruit-driven Syrahs made even richer with the addition of sturdy, smoky Mourvèdre and bright, succulent Grenache.
The wine starts out with bold aromatics of jammy berry fruit, vanilla-scented oak, and saddle leather. Brambly and earthy flavors follow an explosive burst of ripe currants. Chewy in texture, the early tannin gives way to a long, velvety finish.
