2005 Blanc du Rhône
The 2005 Blanc du Rhone was blended from Marsanne and Roussanne grown
under the most stressful conditions on the West Side of Paso Robles, as
well as a Viognier from the meticulously farmed Spoon Hill in the Templeton
Gap. Each variety was chosen for its own characteristics and fermented
in neutral barrels. The best barrels of each were selected for the Blanc
du Rhone.
This blend shows the best attributes of all its constituents. The nose
is lifted by light, floral notes of honeysuckle and orange blossom from
the Viognier. The Marsanne lends the mineral edge to the nose and serves
as the main structural component, while the Roussanne contributes fullness
in the mouth and a zesty, citrusy finish.
