Although the common family didn't often enjoy meat throughout the year, Christmas was the exception.  People made a special visit to the butcher for a Christmas goose, or perhaps a fine cut of beef or lamb.  Selections of fresh butchered meats were hung outside awaiting the shoppers. The second story residence was most likely occupied by the Beesley family.  A special bottom stamp has been added to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of The Dickens' Village Series. In 1984, Neilan Lund presented the initial drawings for the Dickens' Village Series to Department 56.  He is considered the "Master Architect" for The Heritage Village Collection as his contributions laid the foundation for The Dickens' Village Series as well as New England Village, Alpine Village and the North Pole Series.
