This Bordeaux-style blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot hails from the Yorkville Highlands region of Mendocino County. The grapes were all grown in a vineyard that is part of a 600 acre property on Highway 128 in Mendocino County near Boonville. The land was originally a Christmas tree farm until 118 acres were planted to vines in 1999. The topography is a combination of rolling hills and steep hillsides with elevations reaching 200 ft. The cooler climate brings aromas and flavors of plum, blackberry and light cedar to this complex, age-worthy wine. The slightly chalky, chewy tannins complement this blend well.
