Bursting with aromas of cherry and licorice and a bright ruby color, this Sonoma County Zinfandel is comprised of grapes grown in some of Sonoma’s finest appellations. 61% of the fruit is from Dry Creek, a region known for producing excellent Zinfandels. On the palate, its blackcurrant and red fruit flavors are balanced and the round, soft tannins make this a versatile wine that is ready to enjoy now or cellared for a few years. It is an excellent choice to serve with strong flavored foods such as rich, rustic pasta dishes, hearty meat sauces, pizza, grilled
meats and burgers.
2007 was an unpredictable year for Zinfandel producers. The growing season began early with very mild summer conditions. Temperatures during veraison, the ripening and coloring period for the grapes were almost perfect. Flavor and color were developing brilliantly promising superb wines at lower alcohol than in other years. Just before harvest the heat came in with a roar. Ten days of over 100 degrees until September 8th, when the long awaited Sonoma fog rolled in. Grapes were cooled and rehydrated and we selectively harvested the vineyards for this blend.
