According to Galileo, a fixed weight within a liquid becomes less buoyant as the temperature rises. This unique instrument is able to measure temperature to within one-half degree by using accurately weighted, liquid-filled balls that are submersed in a special liquid. To read the thermometer, look for the lowest-floating ball disregarding any balls that are resting on the bottom of the cylinder. Features five spheroids with 24k gold-plated temperature medalions covering a temperature range of 64° to 80°F.
