DESCRIPTION
The Guglielmo family proudly offers this Cal-Italia wine in celebration of the rich Old World winemaking tradition. Sangiovese is the predominate grape variety used to produce the Italian Chianti Classicos. Produced from vineyards located within the western foothills of Santa Clara Valley, the 2007 Private Reserve Santa Clara Valley Sangiovese exhibits an alluring fruit-forward style.
WINEMAKERS NOTES
This Cal-Ital wine displays aromas of ripe dark cherry and plum, with notes of leather, pepper, anise and cranberry. The palate, bright with acidity, offers nuances of ripe Bing cherries and spice drawn through the extended finish. For additional complexity and to add some roundness to the finish our winemakers included 12.5 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 8.5% Carignane, and 4% Zinfandel in the blend. Enjoy this wine with classic Italian pasta dishes with tomato sauce, or try it with a nice homemade meat loaf. The 2007 vintage produced 845 cases.
