The 2007 vintage has a vibrant garnet ruby color. The depth of the color is lighter than in years past. The aroma is full of bright red fruits; cherry, raspberry and plum with hints of violet and lavender. We use a larger percentage of second fill barrels for the “Z” Zinfandel and this creates a subtle bouquet that features the Zinfandel fruit while adding just a waft of hazelnut, and vanilla. The flavors of succulent ripe red berries are delivered via a luscious fluid full of soft ripe tannins. The texture of the wine is rich and velvety reminiscent of fine Pinot Noir. The finish reveals smoky toasted flavors that developed during fourteen months of aging in small oak barrels. The 2007 edition of the “Z” Zinfandel may be our most elegant and refined Zinfandel to date.<p>
