These Washable/Reusable filters have pleats that are 15-20% deeper than competitive products and contain 10-20% more filter media. This reduces restriction by creating a greater surface area for air to flow through. It also adds longer life to the filter by allowing it to retain more dust. The Pro-Guard 7 media is constructed from 5 layers of high quality surgical gauze, and an additional 2 layers of non-woven synthetic polyester fabric with a random porosity. It is sandwiched between two layers of aluminum wire mesh and an expanded metal wire which provide a lifetime structural skeleton for the filter as well as ensure against collapse in high flowing diesel applications.<BR><BR>The gauze, combined with aFe's special oil treatment, filters out contamination with less physical obstruction than typical paper elements. The oil is absorbed and wicked through micro fibers of the surgical gauze. Suspended particles are filtered out of the air stream through static charge attraction with the gauze/oil media.
