In 2005 there was only one heat spike in July, but August was relatively mild temperatures with a cooler than normal September and October. This allowed for gradual maturation of the fruit, the all important longer "hang time", and wonderful character in the resulting wine. The wine exudes complex notes as soon as it is poured. The aromas offer scents of ripe plum, violets, berries, currents and spice that are well integrated. Held to the light, this elegant wine shimmers with a stunning deep purple-scarlet color that announces the intensity of the grapes. The palate is equal to the lush color and bold aromas.
