The 2006 Mirror is a classic style Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruit was sourced from two vineyards in St. Helena and one in Oakville. These are by far the winemaker Rob Lawson's favorite appellations in Napa Valley, as they tend to produce deeply concentrated wines with a great sense of sophistication and polish.
The vineyards are meticulously farmed with balanced crop loads that lead to a concentrated yet elegant wine. Each individual vineyard has different characteristics that provide a layering of nuances.
The aromas of this Cabernet Sauvignon are an enticing blend of blackberry, black cherry, rose petal and spice with a dark chocolate nuance. The palate profile generates a full ripe and concentrated core of dark berries and dried cranberries. Its balanced acidity delivers a seamless harmony of fruit and tannins that integrate a clean and lasting finish.
The fruit was harvested in late September and mid October. Each vineyard was harvested separately to maximize the flavor profiles of each site. The grapes were de-stemmed and the individual berries were then sorted by hand to small fermenters. This helps for tannin control and improved extraction. The wines were then aged in French oak barrels for 20 months. 50% new French oak and 50% seasoned neutral cooperage were used.
