<P>Intense. Intriguing. A world apart. Voss Vineyards chooses a different path from the vineyard to the cellar. Our vines grow in areas famous for their soils, areas like the Rutherford Bench and Carneros. But we don’t use the classic Napa Valley varietals. Instead we nurture grapes like Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. And we use new winemaking ideas. All to create a new world of wines.</P>

-- The fruit for our Syrah is grown both at our estate vineyard in Rutherford and a block farther south in the Napa Valley. The Syrah from our vineyard provides the backbone of the blend with deep black fruits and tannin structure, while the other block, grown in a cooler site, contributes boosted pepper and berry notes.</P>

-- The fruit for our Viognier is from the Cold Creek Vineyard in Carneros. The extremely well drained sandy loam is quite a departure from the normal Carneros clay. Temperatures during the growing season are rather cool, with high temperatures generally in the high 70s to low 80s. This leads to a long growing season and a late harvest date, giving the vines time to develop concentrated flavor in the grapes. . . .</P>

We also source fruit from two other distinguished vineyards, one in Oakville and one in Yountville. The Rutherford site produces grapes of intensely perfumed tropical fruit character. The Oakville and Yountville vineyards impart good acidity and citrus and mineral flavors. . . .</P>
