Just a few miles north of the winery is my Fifteen Forty Vineyard on the east-facing flank of Howell Mountain. The elevation of 1365 feet is just below the Howell Mountain appellation. One of our steeper vineyards, with terraced slopes and low yielding vines. Howell Mountain flavors and quality with a very firm structure, requiring a longer time on skins during extended maceration for the desired mouthfeel.
This is an intense Cabernet Sauvignon full of black pepper, cinnamon, dried blueberries, cotton candy, cassis and dusty dark fruit. Coating the palette are flavors including spice, coffee/toffee candy, cocoa, sweet dark candy, licorice, and blackberry. Very firm in structure with integrated tannins and a long velvety tannin finish. Another single vineyard that benefits from additional bottle age.
