I remember this site as one of the first orchards I removed with my father. We had an Allis Chamlers tractor I loved to work on at 9 years old. Originally planted by my father in 1968, this Rutherford site is surrounded by a pedigree of Napa Valley Cabernet vineyards. Farmed organically, we pick this small site several times each year, several weeks apart to evaluate the flavor profile difference after additional “hang time.”
Mixed with the attractive aromas of French oak there is red cherry, cedar, and floral notes. Bright sweet fruit flavors mixed with a spicy, baked cherry pie, violets and toast, finishing with a lingering, mouth-watering texture. Like our other Rutherford sites, the finish has the Rutherford Dust character.
