<H1>2006 Cuvee d'Honneur Syrah -- Neyers Vineyards Shopping Cart</H1> $48.00 <IMG SRC="https://store.nexternal.com/neyers/images/Cuvee%20Label.JPG" ALIGN=right ALT="2006 Cuvee d'Honneur Syrah" NAME="2006 Cuvee d'Honneur Syrah" BORDER=0 HSPACE=10> The San Francisco Chronicle just published their annual list of the ‘Top 100 Wines of the Year’, and we were flattered to learn that our 2005 Syrah ‘Cuvée d’Honneur’ was one of the bottlings selected. Their tasting notes read: “Bruce and Barbara Neyers get help from winemaker Tadeo Borchardt (and consulting from Ehren Jordan) for this meaty, pepper-driven (both black and white) textbook effort. Adding to the classic Syrah aromas are speck, cinnamon stick and black olive, with brooding fruit underneath - roasted blackberry and pie filling. Intense and rich, with a mouth-filling finish.” We’ve been producing a separate bottling of Syrah labeled as Cuvée d’Honneur since the 2000 vintage, and if you ever visit us at our Sage Canyon winemaking facility, you’ll see that 50% of our production space is given over to the equipment necessary to produce old world-style Syrah. We strive to produce Syrah that is classic, and we’re delighted to learn that they’re considered textbook examples of what we’ve come to know and love from the Northern Rhône appellations of Cornas, Côte-Rôtie and Hermitage. For the Cuvée d’Honneur bottling, we change things slightly, add a few twists and make a wine that is even more distinctive. We did so here with the 2006 as well, and the wine is now ready for shipment. John Bonné is the wine editor of the Chronicle and in an e-mail exchange following the release of the ‘Top 100 List’ he mentioned “…the Cuvée d’Honneur was a true standout – one of those California Syrahs that is very content to live in its own realm.” We are as proud of our 2006 Syrah ‘Cuvée d’Honneur’ as we are of any wine we’ve ever put our name on.
