Syrah can take on many forms, depending on where it is grown, how it is farmed, and how a winemaker handles the grapes. Each version has its own set of charms, and few things at Neyers Vineyards have been as rewarding to us as watching the development of our various Syrah bottlings over the past 15 years. We’ve made wines that have been, to quote the world’s most celebrated wine journalist, “hedonistic fruit bombs”. We’ve made wines with far more subtlety -- wines that we think displayed grace and complexity. And we’ve made wines that have focused on the new world themes of ripe fruit and drink-ability. This bottling, from a parcel of young Napa Valley vines, is a new take for us; a Syrah that simply begs to be drunk and enjoyed for the sheer pleasure that red wine lovers like me look for in their everyday wines. Examine the color, smell the aroma, and taste it. You’ll see.</P>
