Please click on the brand name to the left for the full description. Winemaker Notes: The grapes were hand picked during the cool morning hours. After being de-stemmed and gently crushed into small bins, a three-day cold soak was carried out to preserve the unique varietal character of Petite Sirah. Punch downs occurred three times a day to maximize the extraction of color, tannin and flavor. The malic fermentation occurred in French oak barrels. After blending the wine from the barrels, it was gently filtered and bottled. Tasting Notes: This wine is black cherry in color with hints of nutmeg and allspice in the aroma. Lush layers of blackberry and dark chocolate covered cherry flavors follow. The wine is rich in texture with a structure that balances and freshens the fruit concentration. The long voluptuous finish lingers and is reminiscent of cocoa powder. Those with patience will find that Wooden Nickel can transform from one hour to the next. We recommend experimenting with this wine through the changes of aromas and flavors.
