Waite with Double Bass
Remember waites? In medieval England, "waites" were town watchmen whose job it was to patrol the dark streets. This post evolved into a kind of licensed musician. During the Christmas season, they were allowed to go from door to door and serenade households in return for a gratuity. Their visits were not always welcome by those trying to sleep.
