It is darkly fruity on the palate yet quietly zesty, with loads of plum, berry and dark cherry flavors tied to vanilla and leather notes. This beauty already shows the character of a much more expensive Cabernet and it should drink beautifully over the next 5-8 years. 1,000 cases made.
Regularly $35.95/btl. or $388.26/cs.
Reorders for Wine Club Members: $30.56/btl. or $366.69/cs.

2006 ERIC GUERRA CABERNET SAUVIGNON ALEXANDER VALLEY
This brilliant and remarkably underpriced Cabernet has immediately appealing aromas of blueberry, blackberry, plum, Cassis and hints of dried herbs over a rich background of vanilla and mocha. The wine is medium bodied and wonderfully supple, with forthcoming flavors of dark berries, plums, allspice, dried sage and mocha. The impression of flavor and elegance never falters through its lingering finish. A delicious wine in all respects, it will be marvelous with roast lamb and won't overpower roast chicken. 125 cases made.
Regularly $36.95/btl. or $399.06/cs.
Reorders for Wine Club Members: $31.41/btl. or $376.89/cs.

2006 WHITEHALL LANE NAPA VALLEY MERLOT
This delicious Merlot is polished but surprisingly gutsy and it has forthright aromas of dark plum, mulberry, toast, vanilla and hints of clove and other baking spices. It is very fruity and altogether engaging on the palate, where its rich plum, berry, dried date, vanilla and baking spice flavors linger beautifully. It is quite dry but never less than generous, and it may well be as attractive all by itself as it will be with the classically-sauced meat dishes it deserves. 12,100 cases produced.
Regularly $27.95/btl. or $301.86/cs.
Reorders for Wine Club Members: $23.7575/btl. or $285.09/cs.

2007 CHASSEUR RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY PINOT NOIR
This forthcoming, fruit-laden Pinot Noir delivers aromas as vibrant as its ruby color, and its mix of Santa Rosa plum, brandied cherry, cranberry-orange compote, panettone, roasted grain and coriander seed scents forms an almost juicy aromatic mélange. On the palate, sweet-natured fruit is again a main and lingering theme, as red berry, cherry and plum flavors rise above roasted grain, smoke and tobacconist-shop spice notes. At the end, all the richness is firmed by fruit acidity and some highly polished tannins, which suggests that this wines most appropriate dinner companions might be Prime rib or sautéed duck breast. Expect another two to three years of very positive evolution. 700 cases produced.
Regularly $39.95/btl. or $431.46/cs.
Reorders for Wine Club Members: $33.96/btl. or $407.49/cs.

2007 SANDLER BUCK HILL ZINFANDEL SONOMA COUNTY
This is a polished but decidedly flavorful Zinfandel, with slightly jammy aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, Oriental plum jam, black tea and black peppercorns. It proves just as ripe as expected, but has a wonderfully dinner-worthy balance to its flavors of cherry syrup, plum, pomegranate and mixed peppercorns. Bright fruit is the dominant theme in the lingering finish, making this a lovely sipper, yet its best service will be for barbequed meats and Provance-style tomato-based dishes. 120 cases made.
Regularly $31.95/btl. or $345.06/cs.
Reorders for Wine Club Members: $27.16/btl. or $325.89/cs.

2008 CHUKKER CABERNET FRANC HAPPY CANYON SANTA BARBARA
This wine is, in a word, buoyant. Its aromas are a blast of sweet-natured and fresh scents of red raspberry, sandalwood, smoke and dried herbs. It shows even more vitality on the palate, where the fruit is a bright and focused mix of strawberry, pomegranate, dried herbs and sandalwood. The finish is dry, but so full of vitality and charm that the wine can be gulped in mouthfuls. This one will be a sensational Spring picnic wine and just a sip conjures up images of sailboating through the islands. 600 cases produced
Regularly $17.95/btl. or $193.86/cs.
Reorders for Wine Club Members: $15.26/btl. or $183.09/cs.

2007 BATON SONOMA COAST CHARDONNAY
This already appealing Chardonnay offers very pretty white peach, Green Gage plum, Fuji apple, vanilla cream wafer and toasted coconut scents in a fine harmony. It is both palate-coating and attractively zesty in the mouth, where hints of grapefruit join the apple, peach and vanilla which dominate through the lingering finish. It is quite delicious now, but despite it youthful charms it should be even complex and satisfying by Fall and will peak six months or so after that. It is a notable bargain.
Regularly $26.95/btl. or $291.06/cs.
Reorders for Wine Club Members: $22.91/btl. or $274.89/cs.

2007 STORRS CHARDONNAY CHRISTIE VINEYARD SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS
This is a delightfully fruity, yet characteristically Santa Cruz Chardonnay. The aromas are full of lemony zest, which brings a perky note to richer flavors of white peach, spiced apple, minerals and hints of nutmeggy custard. The texture is rich, yet light on the palate, and the flavors linger beautifully, never losing their contrasting impressions of intensity and lightness of weight. A wine of balance and charm, it might see its best service with sauced shell fish.
Regularly $29.95/btl. or $323.46/cs.
Reorders for Wine Club Members: $25.46/btl. or $305.49/cs.

2008 SEGHESIO PINOT GRIGIO RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY
This beautiful Pinot Grigio is brightly fruity and beautifully focused, offering aromas of apple skins, preserved lemons, melon and just a hint of dried flowers. It is just as zesty, and vert flavorful on the palate, where Greengage plum, preserved lemon and apple all make a rich statement. It finishes well and its cutting zest teams up with some mineral undercurrents to bring a firmer sense of dryness at the end. 1800 cases produced.
Regularly $20.95/btl. or $226.26/cs.
Reorders for Wine Club Members: $17.81/btl. or $213.69/cs.

2008 ELIZABETH ROSE, SYRAH ROSE NAPA VALLEY
This is a vibrantly fruity Rosé, with wonderfully forthcoming scents of red raspberry, wild strawberry, lemon zest, watermelon, white pepper and hints of yellow rose. Its flavors are every bit as exciting as the aromas suggest and loads of raspberry, Kirschwasser, watermelon, lemon zest, rose and pink peppercorn seem to jump from the glass. Those flavors linger beautifully and are as refreshing as they are delicious, making this a nearly ideal Spring-Summer wine. Blended with 7% Zinfandel. 600 cases produced, from Certified Organic vineyards in Yountville and Oakville.
Regularly $18.95/btl. or $204.66/cs.
Reorders for Wine Club Members: $16.11/btl. or $193.29/cs.

2007 BANYAN SANTA LUCIA HIGHLANDS RIESLING
This Riesling is subtle, complex and expansive in aroma, as strong mineral undercurrents and scents of peach, Asian pear, lemon peel and apple skin all gradually make an appearance. As expected, it comes through as quite dry on the palate, where Asian pear and mineral notes are the central flavor themes and the texture is mouth-coating but never heavy and never less than zesty. The finish is an intriguing mix of Asian pears and apple skins, made drier by hard mineral notes and citric hints. A brilliant wine for fresh oysters or sushi, it will be just the thing for Crab Louis. 273 cases produced.
Regularly $14.95/btl. or $161.46/cs.
Reorders for Wine Club Members: $12.71/btl. or $152.49/cs.

2008 AMAZON RANCH VIOGNIER DAMIANO VINEYARD SIERRA FOOTHILLS
Both genteel and complex, the aromas of this delightful Viognier poise orange blossoms and honeysuckle over richer impressions of ripe peach and fresh lime, creating a bright and seductive melange. On the palate, melon and kiwi notes and some mineral undercurrents add depth and balance to the wine's lingering flavors of white peach, orange peel and lime. This refreshing and beautifully-balanced Viognier should get even better for another 12 months. 500 cases produced.
Regularly $17.95/btl. or $193.86/cs.
Reorders for Wine Club Members: $15.26/btl. or $183.09/cs.

THE TWELVE PICKS - SUMMER 2009

SKU: WEBSUMMER200912PIX
Web Item?: T

Category: Gift Sets & Samplers

Napa Valley Winery Exchange Products

Napa Valley Winery Exchange
Napa Valley Winery Exchange Online Store powered by Nexternal shopping cart software
