With an hour or two of airing they surge forth as a wave of chocolate covered cherry, Oriental plum jam, tobacco, dark berries, sweet vanilla and allspice. In a similar manner the wines initially gripping tannins fall prey to the onslaught of fruit. The luxurious cherry-chocolate, baking spice and plum jam notes are just as penetrating on the palate, and they never falter through the wines lingering finish. Without question, a pleasure to drink now, this one will reward the patient in a big way. Very likely the best Montallegro to date.
