<p class="MsoNormal">Ojai Red is not an amorphous blend of bulk wine. It comes
about because of the way we make our other wines. In our effort to make the
best possible single vineyard designated wines we avoid filtering them, and
choose to carefully decant (rack) the clear wine from each barrel, leaving a
substantial quantity behind. These leftovers are settled again and bottled as
Ojai Red, so from season to season Ojai Red varies. I hope you find a certain
pleasure in knowing when you buy a bottle of Ojai Red you are going to get a
really good wine, but won’t know exactly what it may taste like. Just in case
you really want a particular batch we made, we now laser etch the bottles with
the bottling date.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The current offering (<st1:date year="2009" day="24" month="2" w:st="on">02/24/09</st1:date>) is almost all pinot noir from the 2007
vintage. This is quite a wine, an incredible value, and joy to drink.</p>
