Vineyard Character: This vineyard historically expresses classic Pinot Noir aromas and flavors of blueberry, baking spices, cassis and cocoa. The site is situated just west of Sebastopol on an east-facing ridge top exposed to cool marine air from the Pacific. Impeccably farmed by the Martinelli family, the site’s Dijon clone 115 vines are planted on very well-drained Goldridge sandy loam soils. Extraordinarily low crop levels, and very small, intensely flavored berries help produce this wine’s supple yet concentrated qualities.
Tasting Notes: This exceptional Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir has all the drama and extraction we have come to expect from Burnside Vineyard. Beautiful and energetic, it begins with aromas of dark cherry, rose petal and cinnamon, supported by even deeper elements of licorice, mocha and pencil shavings. The flavors are plush and lifted, highlighting red apple, cranberry and cherry jam notes that continue throughout the long, velvety finish.
Winemaking: 100% Pinot Noir; Multi-yeast fermentations (wild & cultured); 100% Malo-lactic fermentation in barrel; 50% New Burgundian French oak barrels; Bottled without fining or filtration
