Our Raffinto, which means “refined” in Italian, is a Super Tuscan blend of 60% Sangiovese, together with 16% Cabernet, 12% Merlot, 7% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Franc. Only 4 barrels were pulled from the original 2005 Raffinto blend and fermented completely dry, then transferred into brand new Radoux French Oak for 24 months. The wine was subsequently aged 12 months in the bottle before release. This gave the wine a much more complex and enduring quality that will definitely withstand the test of time. A wonderful vanilla character was induced by the French Oak to match well with the great tannins and delicious black cherry flavors. This wine won a SILVER MEDAL at the 2009 Sonoma County Harvest Fair.
