Creating your perfect new bike fit at the Reparto Corse Fitting Studio
A proper bike fit will make you comfortable and efficient.
Whatever your goals and needs are there is no substitute for a properly fitted bike. A less than optimal bike fit can cause injury and certainly make you less inclined to ride.
A Reparto Corse fitting session using the Waterford Fit Master Size Cycle will take about 2 hours. The steps in the fitting are similar to an existing bike re-fitting, but adds the use of the adjustable Fit Master bike.
Using the infinitely adjustable stationary Fit Master bicycle enables us to create a custom dream bike or to find the best stock frame to build up for you.
The fitting begins with a discussion of your cycling goals, needs, riding style and experience. The discussion includes exploring what is working and what is not working about your current positioning. If you have had any injuries and if there are particular problems to address they are recorded so we can begin to make the necessary adjustments.
The next step is an assessment of your flexibility and range of motion. After taking measurements for your current position with regard to frame size, saddle height, crank arm length, top tube length, stem length, handle bar width, seat tube angle, saddle positioning and setback I take basic body measurements for inseam, foot arch height, and shoulders. We now have a starting point to set up the Waterford Fit Master adjustable bike to achieve the comfortable alignment of your legs, spine, shoulders, arms, hands and feet.
The adjustments start at the pedal-foot connection and work their way up and forward. Tools involved include the Waterford Fit Master Adjustable bike itself, laser level pedal stroke analysis, and the Size-O-Matic adjustable stem which permits a great range of height, length and angle options.
The Waterford Fit Master is an infinitely adjustable bike which allows us to replicate any stock bike frame and create the ideal custom frame for you. Using the Fit Master and the Size-O-Matic together enable us to determine the proper frame geometry for you as well as the correct stem length and height. As with re-fitting an existing bike, the process of optimizing your position is dynamic so it takes time and cannot be rushed. Each change needs to be evaluated and recorded. The use of the laser level during this dynamic portion of the fitting allow both you the rider, and me, the fitter to see what your pedal stroke looks like prior to changes and how our position adjustments smooth and improve your pedal stroke helping you to create power through improved efficiency. From the arch height measurement and body observation taken in conjunction with the external laser level pedal stroke analysis the use of pedal/cleat wedges to correct imbalances and/or a recommendation for footbed orthotics may be made.
With the sizing and positioning completed it is time to review the fit making sure that it is comfortable and your goals have been met. Taking the measurements from the Fit Master and Size-O-Matic for your frame size, stem size, and handlebar size we will be able to have your custom frame built or set up the best possible fit on a stock frame. Once you bike is completed and ready for pick-up it is important to complete the process with on the road evaluation. In order to get your feedback we will need to ride together giving you an opportunity to evaluate your new bike and utilize my skills as a cycling coach and riding instructor.
