Tasting Notes |
| Despite the popularity of Malbec from Argentina, examples of California Malbec are fairly rare. This deeply pigmented grape creates a rustic, medium-bodied wine with firm tannins, depth, and a velvety texture. Malbec originates in France’s Bordeaux region where it is still plays a minor role. We source outstanding Malbec from our longtime growers Jan and Bart Krupp at Stagecoach Vineyards. This spectacular, high-elevation vineyard in Napa Valley’s Atlas Peak appellation is well suited to growing this Napa Valley rarity. Our 2008 Malbec is pleasantly curvaceous and dense with the concentrated blackberry flavors expected of the varietal. Malbec is a versatile wine that pairs well with red meats and is adaptable enough to stand up to spicy Mexican, Cajun, Indian or Italian fare. Our ’08 Malbec is a natural match for barbecue, chili and sausage. We are pleased to help our Club Members discover a new favorite. |
