Schram epitomizes our philosophy to create a wine in which no effort has been spared and no care has been omitted. This wine is a fine expression of American individuality and innovation. It is our very best Chardonnay-based Brut sparkling wine. Our eighty vineyard blocks in the Carneros and along the Pacific Coast are nurtured throughout the growing season. Cluster samples are pulled many times before the optimal pick date is selected. Complexity is gained through fermentation in both oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. Some small lots undergo malolactic fermentation to enrich aromas and infuse creaminess on the palate. The wine is then aged in our historic Diamond Mountain caves for over five years. Dedicated to our founder of 1862, Jacob Schram, this special bottling has been a great success since its first release in 1992. J. Schram reflects Schramsberg’s continuing role as a pioneer in world class sparkling wines. It is our nominee when you want an American statement of international excellence. J. Schram is appealing as an aperitif or enjoyed with fresh shellfish, caviar, smoked salmon, mild cheeses, seafood brochettes and risotto with prosciutto. THE 2001 VINTAGE “The fruitful aromas of the wine’s youth are still vibrant, with fresh green apple, lime and pineapple jumping out of the glass.   Refined, bottle-aged characters of hazelnut, honey, and baked brioche brioche chime in.  The palate pleases with a crisp entry and the flavorful essences of white peach, key lime and juicy tropical fruit.   While a creamy depth builds on the mid-palate, the wines acidic backbone and a certain mineral drive stretch into a long, riding finish.  The 2001 J Schram, one of the finest we have produced, will develop beautifully for at least 20 more years.”                           Cheers!                                                                                                                                          Winemakers, Hugh Davies and <personname w:st="on"></personname>Keith Hock                            J.
