<font face=arial><font size=3>Owners Pam & Dick Niner were smart. They lured a talented Winemaker out of Napa – Amanda Cramer – whose pedigree includes stints at Far Niente, Chimney Rock, Robert Mondavi, D’Arenberg (Australia), Casa Lapostolle (Chile), and then Paradigm in Napa, where she worked under famed winemaker Heidi Barrett. With this sort of talent in the stable, this is a winery worth betting on.
<P><B><U>Tasting Notes</b></u>
<br>I recently tasted this wine as the first of a long line-up, and I was reluctant to move on! The wine has one foot in the “rich tropical” Sauvignon Blanc camp and another in the “grassy herbal notes” camp, teetering effortlessly on the tightrope that spans the two.
<P>Tropical fruit flavors (guava and melon) combine with apple and meld nicely with a pineapple-like acidity and a refreshing hint of flintiness (Loire Valley, anyone?). The mouthfeel is full and lush, while lightly textured. Perfect for pairing with this month’s recommended dish of grilled squid!
