Pinot Noir Anderson Valley 2006 90 pts

"Complex loamy earth, dried berry and currant
aromas are firm and structured, tight and focused, with hints of blueberry and
floral scents. Drink now through 2014. 802 cases made. ~ James Laube in the Wine Spectator
I tasted through all of Dan's pinot noirs at the Family Winemaker event, and this one was a stand-out both for its quality and its price. And while $39 for a bottle of wine isn't everyone's idea of a bargain, all things are relative - Dan's single-vineyard wines are demanding $60 a bottle, even in this price-conscious market!
Tasting Notes
Look for Dan's deft touch of oak on top of a foundation of ripe fruit. Despite the wine's phenolic ripeness, it came in with modest sugars, resulting in a very food-friendly alcohol level of just 14.3%. As such, this wine shows well during the cocktail hour but still compliments your culinary skills when taken to the table. Wines from Anderson Valley tend to offer up notes of forest floor, and this one is no exception.
Cheers!
