Classic Viognier nose (it made my mouth water!) of floral and spice aromas. Pour some into your mouth and swish it around like mouthwash and you'll enjoy a mouth full of exotic fruits like lychee and pineapple and apricots. Then swallow the wine and notice an "Aesop's Fables" sort of surprise twist at the end, with hints of bitter almond and white pepper trailing off into the distance as the memory of this wine lingers on the palate for a full thirty seconds.

Cheers!
I love this wine at any price, and the fact it is so affordable makes me love it all the more. If you can find a more affordable Viognier that is anywhere near this good, I'll buy it by the case.
Interestingly, the Gau family has owned this winery for over a hundred years, and invoked a tradition of flooding their vineyards every winter as a form of protection against phylloxera. The technique worked quite well, apparently, as Domaine Sallies is one of the very few French vineyards to escape the louse's devastation in the late 1800's, when most French grape vines had to be grafted onto phylloxera-resistant root stocks from America.
