The Wine: When I blended a barrel sample of their 2006 vintage with another sample of their Petite Sirah, I was impressed. Inky dark and dense, but offset by a wonderful floral nose and a high note of red fruits that made me eager to see the wines develop fully. Doug and I spoke about how the blended wine brought great nuance to the glass, but I had no idea he'd go and find some great Carignane to throw into the mix! I'm glad he did. Combine the two wines from above with carignane from 120 year-old vines, then keep the alcohol at a low 13.9%, and you've got a wine you'll want to buy by the case. 55% Estate Zinfandel, 36% Old Vine Carignane (120 years), 9% Estate Petite Sirah. Cheers!
Doug and Terri Timewell grow their own Zinfandel. Head-trained. Low yields. Award winning.
