There’s not much doubt that Jim Clendenen changed Central Coast winemaking forever – he is one of a handful who put the area on the world wine map.
The vineyard can be found lying well inland from the coast, between the Santa Ynez and Santa Maria Valleys. Despite its inland locale, it is ideal for cool climate varietals such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The wine shows aromas of red cherries and rhubarb, but with great subtlety and balance, and Jim's deft touch in every aspect of creating this wine, from the vineyard through bottling and aging prior to release.
“Santa Barbara Historic Vineyards Collection”
Cheers!
In 1980, Jim Clendenen produced the first Au Bon Climat wines using fruit from the Los Alamos Vineyard. This wine commemorates the winery’s 25th anniversary, and it is a great way to celebrate such a milestone.
Five of Jim’s wine labels carry this distinction - easily identified by the grape leaf inside the triangle on the label. Each wine from the historic vineyard collection is from a vineyard that is historically significant to the fine repuation of Central Coast wines.
