Single Vineyard Collection
Solomon Hills is a relatively young vineyard, but one that has come out of the chute with some great wines. The cool climate and coastal influence allows this vineyard to produce some of the finest Pinot Noir in the Santa Maria AVA – and that’s saying something, since the famed Bien Nacido vineyard is just a few miles away.
Like many of our premium producers, Summerland becomes intimately involved with their growers, specifying how the fruit will be grown and harvested in exchange for paying a premium price. This is the only way to create a wine unique to its place of origin, or that reflects what the French call the “terroir” of an individual vineyard site.
Speaking of the French, it may come as no surprise that Summerland’s Winemaker is Etienne Terlinden, who has crafted this wine in much the same style as those from his native Burgundy. He has managed to preserve the integrity of the fruit through minimal intervention during the vinification and ageing process.
Only 235 cases produced!
Cheers!
Tasting Notes
Light and elegant, this is a deceptively complex wine that evolves and develops over time – both in your cellar and in your glass. Look for distinctive light cherry aromas with mouth-watering acidity and a lingering finish.
Summerland’s reputation for fine wines has been built primarily through their single-vineyard wines. Their efforts are focused on the expressive growing regions found in the Central Coast – from Santa Cruz to Ventura.
