Palate - Yep, blueberries and oak spice and ripe fruit aromas. Structure out the wazoo, which means this wine is likely to age well for many years to come. Tannins will benefit from a bit of softening - likely to evolve pleasantly for another three years, peak for another five, and remain viable for five more.
This wine is 100% Syrah from Santa Maria Valley's famed Bien Nacido vineyard. This was a hot vintage, and as such was the earliest harvest of Bien Nacido Syrah in Qupe's 18 year history with this site - harvest ran from September 25th through October 8th, with ripeness at 23.0 - 25.4 and acidity at an amazing 7.3g (pH = 3.3 - 3.5)
The Winemaker
Enough sycophantism. Can this nice guy make good wine??! Well, his peers thought so. Bob was the Winemaker of the year at the 2006 Hospice du Rhone event, and has probably thrown out more awards than most winemakers will ever see. But don't take my word for it - stop by his Solvang tasting room at Tastes of the Valleys and see for yourself.
2,000 cases produced.

Tasting Notes
Nose - Blueberries. No doubt about it. Beginning to detect a slight edge of smoked bacon, though this wine is still too young for much of that to be evident - look for more of these scents to develop in the coming year or two.
Bob Lindquist is known as one of the nicest guys in the wine industry, which is saying something. This is an industry filled with all sorts of people, most of them wicked smart, many of them excellent cooks, and a more often than not, they're people you want to hang around with. The occasional S.O.B. is found, but easily passed over for more desirable company. And somewhere up towards the top of this stack sits Bob Lindquist.
